September 11 attacks


The attacks of September 11 (called the September 11 September 11 or 9 / 11), was a series of four coordinated suicide attacks against targets in New York and Washington, DC, September 11, 2001. In the morning of 19 Al Qaeda terrorist Islamist group hijacked four airliners ,The hijackers intentionally crashed two planes into the twin towers of World Trade Center in New York; . Both towers collapsed within two hours. Hijackers crashed a third plane into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. When passengers tried to take control of the fourth plane, United Airlines Flight 93, crashed in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, which prevents it from reaching its target in Washington, DC, near 3,000 people in the attacks.

Suspicion quickly fell on al-Qaeda, and in 2004, said the group's leader Osama bin Laden, who initially denied any involvement, responsibility for the attacks. Al-Qaeda and bin Laden cited U.S. support for Israel, the presence of U.S. troops in Saudi Arabia and the sanctions against Iraq as reasons for the attacks. United States responded to the attacks by launching the war against terrorism, invaded Afghanistan to remove the Taliban who had harbored members of Al Qaeda. Many countries have strengthened their anti-terrorism legislation and expanded police powers. In May 2011, after several years in general was found and killed Osama bin Laden.
